Ukraine Urges Europe for Stronger Action for Peace

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, following a series of calls wiht leaders from allied nations including Germany and Poland, stressed the need for Europe to considerably enhance its efforts towards achieving a lasting peace in Ukraine. In his televised address, Zelensky stated, “Europe must and can do much more to ensure that peace is actually achieved.”

Seeking a European Strategy for Peace

Zelensky emphasized the possibility of ending the war with Russia, citing that Ukraine and its European partners possess “clear proposals” for achieving this goal. He stressed the importance of a unified european strategy in collaboration with the United States: “On this basis we can ensure the implementation of a European strategy, and it is significant that this is done together with America.”

US-Ukraine Deal Amidst Ongoing Tensions

Meanwhile, the United States has been urging Ukraine to sign an agreement granting access to the country’s mineral resources. Zelensky expressed his hope for a “fair result” while acknowledging the need to negotiate the details of the agreement. He stated, “This is an agreement that can add value to our relationship, and the main thing is to work out the details so that it can work.”

Thes negotiations come amidst public criticism from US President Donald Trump regarding Ukraine’s reluctance to immediately sign the deal.

International Diplomacy Intensifies

In an effort to bolster international support, Zelensky engaged in conversations with European leaders from Germany, Sweden, the Czech Republic, poland, Luxembourg, Slovenia, and Croatia. He also connected with the President of Ivory Coast. Moreover, Zelensky’s aide, Andriy yermak, discussed the situation with a Brazilian counterpart, underscoring the global focus on the conflict in Ukraine.
