Although Zhai Xinxin argued in court that she had not intimidated, defrauded or abused Su Hengmao, and that all property transfers were of Su Hengmao’s own free will, she emphasized that Su Hengmao’s suicide had nothing to do with her, so she had the right to legally dispose of Su Hengmao’s estate.
However, the court found that the two people got married on June 7 and divorced on July 18, which was a “flash marriage and divorce.” In addition, the court found that Zhai Xinxin coerced Su Xiangmao during and after the divorce agreement in order to obtain high compensation. Illegality is one of the reasons that led Su Xiangmao to commit suicide. Therefore, it was ruled that Zhai Xinxin lost the lawsuit and must return Su Xiangmao’s ownership of two properties in Hainan and Beijing, a Tesla car, Cartier jewelry worth RMB 310,000, and related cash.
Subsequently, Su Xianglong also filed a charge of extortion against Zhai Xinxin. According to people familiar with the matter, Zhai Xinxin has now pleaded guilty.
