Zhou focused on Austrian GP after crash

Alfa Romeo driver Guanyu Zhou has once again praised the safety improvements in Formula 1 in recent years after a few days of recovery from his serious accident at Silverstone. The 23-year-old Chinese has now apparently ended the crash at the British Grand Prix. “I’m only focused on the weekend here in Austria,” he said before the Grand Prix in Spielberg (Sunday, 3 p.m., live on ORF1).

Zhou had an accident right at the start of the race last Sunday. His car slid headfirst over the asphalt and gravel bed and ultimately crashed into the safety fence behind the tire stack. From the moment he left Silverstone, “I was looking forward to getting back in the car,” Zhou said. He had not sustained any serious injuries.

Green light from Albon too

Alex Albon is also ready for action again and ready for the race weekend with the sprint on Saturday and the Grand Prix on the Red Bull Ring on Sunday. He too had survived a serious accident in his Williams unscathed.

“I’m pleased that after what happened at Silverstone, I can say, ‘I’m fine.’ It always sounds dramatic when someone is taken to the hospital, Albon admitted. But for him it was just a precautionary measure been, the 26-year-old asserted.
