Japanese Prime Minister Kishida was strongly concerned about the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons against Ukraine, saying it was “unpredictable”.
As the situation worsened, Nissan Motors decided to close the business by selling its assets in Russia for only 1 euro.

Russia’s indiscriminate attack on Ukrainian civilians has been classified as a war crime by seven major countries, the G7 leaders.
Leaders have warned that Russia’s use of nuclear weapons will have serious consequences.
After the G7 video summit, Prime Minister Kishida expressed strong concern over Russia’s nuclear threat.
As a native of Hiroshima, where the first atomic bomb in human history was dropped, he emphasized the eradication of nuclear weapons again.

However, the Japanese government is cautious, such as adding additional sanctions on Russia to only increase the number of asset freezes.
As the situation in Ukraine worsens, Japanese companies are pulling out of Russia one after another.
Nissan Motor Company announced that it will sell its local assets, including its manufacturing plant, to a Russian state-run research institute for 1 euro or about 1,400 won.
The loss incurred by closing the Russian business, which started in 2009, amounted to about 1 trillion won.
This situation is due to the unstable business environment when Russia designated Japan as a ‘non-friendly country’ in March, which took the lead in sanctions against Russia.

Toyota has decided to end production in Russia, and Mitsubishi Motors is also considering withdrawal.
