Yes. Tokyo.

[앵커]

Are you saying that damage is being confirmed one after another in each area due to the impact of the typhoon?

[기자]

That’s right.

It was found that the damage was concentrated in Kagoshima and Miyazaki in southern Kyushu, which were first affected by the typhoon.

NHK reported that in Kagoshima, a man in his 50s and an elderly man in his 90s were injured one after another after falling and being injured by the wind.

In addition, local media reported that strong winds smashed glass windows and torn some walls of buildings.

In areas affected by the typhoon, there were also sections where trees fell down along the road, making it impossible to go back and forth.

In the southern Kyushu area, it was found that 58,000 households had power outages as of this morning.

In some areas, there were also communication failures that prevented cell phones from connecting.

As the typhoon showed its power in earnest, the disaster warning was strengthened.

The highest level of alert, ‘Securing emergency safety’, issued when a disaster that threatens the lives of residents is expected, has been issued to about 123,000 residents.

The next highest level of ‘evacuation orders’ was also issued by each local government for 4.03 million residents.

Kyushu regional airlines, ships, and railways are expected to continue to suspend operations from today to tomorrow.

Not only Kyushu, but also Osaka and other Kansai regions, the Shinkansen service will be suspended from tomorrow afternoon when the typhoon effect is in full swing.

How is the typhoon movement now?

Heavy rain continues not only to southern Kyushu, which is directly affected by the typhoon, but also to Tokyo.

The Japan Meteorological Agency announced that the typhoon was moving north at a speed of 25 km/h as of 1 p.m. today.

The typhoon is expected to reach near Kagoshima in southern Kyushu tonight, and then up north along the west coast by tomorrow morning.

The typhoon, which landed in Kyushu tomorrow morning, is expected to turn northeast and penetrate the Japanese archipelago.

Regarding this typhoon, the Korea Meteorological Administration urged special caution, calling it “a typhoon that has never been experienced before.”

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that the maximum wind speed at an instant would reach 70 meters per second, with the power to destroy a part of a house.

In Kyushu, heavy rain of up to 600mm is expected for the day until tomorrow morning, and high waves of up to 14m are expected.

The Meteorological Agency issued a special typhoon warning for the first time in Kagoshima Prefecture, southern Kyushu, considering the power of this typhoon.

The meteorological agency has warned that the damage could be as large as once every few decades.
