How is the field situation?

[기자]

Heavy rain is pouring down here at Paldang Dam.

It has been raining non-stop from last night to this morning.

As a result, Paldang Dam opened 5 out of 15 sluice gates overnight, as seen behind me.

The water flowing into the dam is continuously discharged and the water level is controlled.

Currently, the Paldang Dam is pumping out about 2,900 tons of water per second, including the amount of discharge from power generation.

This is more than three times higher than yesterday morning, when the water gate was not opened and only about 700 tons of water per second was discharged by power generation alone.

Because of this, the planned flood level of the Paldang Dam did not reach 27m, but it is recording a level of 24m similar to yesterday.

The Paldang Dam is a key facility for controlling floods in the Han River, and when more than 4,000 tons of water is discharged per second, walking on Jamsu Bridge in Seoul is controlled.

Although it rained at the heavy rain warning level, the current jamsu bridge is not restricted.

The water level of the Han River Jamsu Bridge is recorded at about 4 meters as of 5:30 a.m.

When the water level rises to 5.5m, pedestrian traffic is controlled, and when it rises to 6.2m, vehicle traffic is controlled.

Some roads are restricted in downtown Seoul.

The lower road of Jeungsan Bridge in Bulgwangcheon and Yangchaecheongyo-Yeongdong 1 Bridge in Yangjaecheon Road were controlled.

Some sections, such as the southern end of the Banghwa Bridge in the direction of Olympic Road in the direction of Gimpo, and the southern end of the Haengju Bridge, are partially controlled.

A heavy rain warning has been issued since last night as it rained 30-50 mm per hour in Seoul and the metropolitan area including here.

In some areas of Pyeongtaek and Osan, more than 100mm of rain fell overnight in an hour.

KHNP urged that thorough precautions should be taken to prevent damage to facilities or people near rivers due to floodgate discharge.

Meteorological authorities also have to check the flood risk area in advance as heavy rain is forecast even during the rush hour.

Construction sites and slopes are cautioned against possible collapse and flood damage.
