There are observations that the prosecution, which is speeding up the investigation of suspicions surrounding Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myeong, will hand over Lee to trial on charges of breach of trust in Daejang-dong and Seongnam FC within this week.
As the expiration date of the arrest period for Kim Man-bae, who was recently re-imprisoned as a key figure in the Daejang-dong case, is approaching, attention is focusing on whether the prosecution’s investigation into Kim will be a variable in Lee’s prosecution policy.

With an unexpected vote in favor, the prosecution’s investigation seemed to be gaining momentum.

Since then, the prosecution, which has focused on supplementary investigations, is considering prosecuting CEO Lee on charges of breach of trust in the development of Daejang-dong, suspicion of preferential treatment for the Wirye New Town project, and bribery in the Seongnam FC case.
The variable is the situation of the prosecution’s investigation into Mr. Kim Man-bae, a major shareholder of Hwacheon Dae-yu, who was recently re-arrested.
Prosecutors are concentrating their efforts on investigating the so-called ‘42.8 billion agreement’, in which private businessmen agreed to give some of the development profits to Daejang-dong to Lee in exchange for preferential business benefits through an intense investigation against Mr. Kim.
As a key suspicion of the Daejang-dong case, which was not listed as a crime in the warrant request of CEO Lee,
Representative Lee emphasizes that the development profits flowing to him through the prosecution investigation have not been confirmed, and he does not bend his position that it is a political investigation.

Prosecutors are focusing on proving related suspicions until the 9th, when Kim Man-bae’s detention period expires.
By summarizing the results of the investigation into Mr. Kim, there are observations that Lee will be brought to trial starting with the existing charges that have progressed in the investigation within this week at the earliest.
In addition, the prosecution is also open to the possibility of re-claiming a warrant for other additional charges, as the suspicion of preferential development in Baekhyun-dong and the case of remittance to North Korea are ongoing.
Depending on how far the prosecution’s investigation progresses within this week, it is expected that the policy and timing of prosecution of Lee will also be outlined.
