[사회]Re-investigation of the suspect for ‘dismissal of arrest warrant’… securing new recruits ‘life and death’

[앵커]

The Special Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency, which investigates the Itaewon disaster, summoned the former head of the 112 Situation Department at Yongsan Police Station in Seoul, whose arrest warrant was previously dismissed, to investigate.

Lee Im-jae, former head of Yongsan Police Station, who also escaped arrest, announced that he would conduct an additional investigation soon and apply for an arrest warrant again as early as next week.

Through consolidation of charges, it seems that life and death are being staked to secure their recruits next time.

The former 112 head of the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul was summoned again to the Special Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency.

It has been four days since he escaped arrest on the 5th with Lee Im-jae, former chief of the Yongsan Police Station.

On the day of the disaster, the head of the Situation Office is accused of responding inappropriately, such as increasing the density by making people who are pushed out of the road go up to the sidewalk despite a series of 112 reports that they are concerned about being crushed.

The special edition is working hard to prove that these measures increased the damage of the disaster.

Former chief Lee Im-jae will also be summoned for re-investigation soon, and we plan to add the charge of falsely writing the time of arrival at the site of the disaster in the situation report.

In addition, as soon as the reinforcing investigation on the two is finished, we decided to apply for an arrest warrant again.

If the arrest warrant is dismissed again, the investigative power is also risking its life and death to establish the charges as it is fatally injured.

The point of view of the special edition is that the negligence of individual institutions gathered together and led to the disaster.

It may be difficult to prove that 158 people died due to the fault of one former chief Lee Im-jae, but if the disaster occurred due to the combined negligence of the police, ward office, firefighting, and transportation corporations, it would be easier to prove the charges.

However, even after establishing this logic from the beginning and continuing the investigation for about a month, it seems that it is not easy to make a breakthrough because it has failed once to secure a new recruit.

While most of the suspects claim that they did not expect the disaster to happen or know the situation in time, it is necessary to prove that the responsibility for the disaster is heavy.

The special version plans to first secure new recruits for police officials and then expand the scope of applications for arrest warrants to fire departments and local governments.

However, it is expected that the investigation will be difficult to speed up as the second arrest warrant application will be made for the former chief Lee and others only next week.
