[사회]Viktor Ahn returns to Korea after passing through Russia and China… Seongnam City Hall coach support

Short track legend Victor Ahn (Korean name Ahn Hyun-soo) is promoting a return to Korea.

Victor Ahn recently applied for an open recruitment for the ice team coach position at Seongnam City Hall. An official from Seongnam City Hall’s ice team said, “Currently, the application for documents has been completed and an interview is ahead.”

Viktor Ahn is a Korean short track speed skater who won three gold medals at the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics. In 2011, when Seongnam City Hall, the team he belonged to at the time, disbanded the ice team due to financial problems, he was naturalized as a Russian citizen to continue his career. After that, he continued his heyday by winning three gold medals at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

After finishing his career as an athlete, Victor An turned into a coach and coached the Chinese national team at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. At the time, Victor Ahn showed off his extraordinary leadership skills by digesting skating training with his athletes with the same skills as he did during his days as a player.

After the Beijing Olympics, Victor Ahn received a four-year long-term contract offer from another foreign national team, but returned to Korea without accepting the offer and recently applied for a coaching position with his former team, Seongnam City Hall.

Seongnam City Hall is home to Choi Min-jung, the signboard for the Korean women’s short track speed skating team.
