[정치]Japan sends a ship to a frigate ceremony for the first time in 7 years… “Security situation top priority”

The ROK Navy has decided to participate in the Japan International Fleet Inspection Ceremony to be held next month.

It has been seven years since 2015, and the military authorities explained that they considered the severe security situation on the Korean Peninsula as their top priority, but the controversy surrounding the self-defense aircraft salute is expected.

The government has decided to attend the international patrol ceremony for the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Maritime Self-Defense Force, which will be held in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan on the 6th of next month.

It is the first time in seven years since 2015 that the ROK Navy has participated in a Japanese naval warfare ceremony.

The Ministry of National Defense emphasized that the security implications of participating in the international frigate ceremony were considered as a top priority.

He added that he took note of the precedent that South Korea and Japan each attended each other’s international inspections twice.

It was last January that the Korean government was invited to the Japanese inspection ceremony.

At that time, the Moon Jae-in government delayed the judgment in that the burial ceremony was held during the new government’s term.

The Yun Seok-Yeol government, which took office in May, could not make a decision easily because of public antipathy to self-defense warships similar to the Rising Sun Flag.

It is because of the burden of our navy to salute the Japanese ships on which the Self-Defense Forces are caught.

In response, a military official explained that there is some inconvenience that the international community, including China, is officially accepting self-defense warships, but the anti-ship salute is meant to show respect for the country’s frigate ceremony.

The Navy’s 10,000-ton logistic support ship Soyang will participate in this naval patrol ceremony, along with 130 people, including Chief of Naval Staff Lee Jong-ho and colonel-class captains.

In addition, we will participate in the multinational search and rescue training SAREX and the Western Pacific Naval Symposium held on the occasion of the Fleet Ceremony.

The government’s decision to participate in the ceremony after careful consideration despite the “pro-Japanese controversy” from some political circles is analyzed to show its will to improve Korea-Japan relations.
