[중앙일보] Professor Daewon Jeon, Comments on Fatty Liver

As of November 18th <중앙일보>reported on alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver and low-risk drinking methods. Fatty liver is a state in which there is a lot of fat in the liver, and when the fat exceeds 5% of the weight of the liver, it corresponds to fatty liver. Among fatty livers, ‘alcoholic fatty liver’ occurs when a large amount of alcohol promotes fat synthesis in the liver. About 80% of fatty liver is ‘non-alcoholic fatty liver’ that has nothing to do with alcohol, and excessive intake of fatty foods or lack of exercise can cause non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Professor Jeon Dae-won of the Department of Medicine at Hanyang University said, “Excessive drinking and overeating of high fat and high carbohydrates overuses the liver. It can proceed, so we must follow the rules for prevention and management of local liver,” he emphasized. He also recommended that “those who already have non-alcoholic fatty liver should eat less than a quarter of their usual meal at a meal meeting.”
