10.1 million Brazilians already have access to “pure” 5G, one year after activation

Yesterday, the Brazil achieved an important milestone in the telecommunications sector: the 5G Standalone (SA) completed one year of activation. According to a report by the Federal Governmentmore of 180 cities (including all capitals) are already operating with the technology.

This means that a significant number of people across the country are enjoying the benefits of “pure” 5G. Also according to the balance, released in a press release, the expansion has exceeded expectations and is beyond the stipulated targets.

One of the advantages of 5G SA is precisely the connection speed. Data from Ookla attest that the average download speed in Brazil is 446,91Mbpswhile the upload is 33,60Mbps; the numbers exceed those of European countries and the USA.

To enjoy the benefits of 5G SA, however, it is necessary to have a device compatible with the technology and a plan that includes the new type of network. It is estimated that today there are 10.1 million of Brazilians using it (about 5% of the population).

Currently, there are 125 models compatible with 5G in the Brazilian market. Of those, 101 are compatible with 5G SA — which includes, of course, Apple devices:

The statement makes it clear that 5G brings great potential to boost the Brazilian economy. With faster speeds and low latency, it is possible for sectors such as the Internet of Things, virtual reality, autonomous vehicles, healthcare, and education to show advances.

The implementation of 5G in Brazil is considered a success, drawing the attention of other countries interested in learning from this “experience”. Brazil is becoming a model for 5G adjudication and deployment, which opens up possibilities for international partnerships and agreements to expand connectivity.

With the continuous advancement of 5G networks and the development of new applications and services, it is possible to say that Brazil is entering a new era of connectivity — in theory, driving economic development and digital transformation.

Although technology still reaches a few people, it has brought concrete benefits to the lives of the population, allowing faster communication, access to information in real time and opening doors to innovation and progress. That over time, therefore, it reaches even more users.
