2 hours waiting time in Easter traffic: kilometer-long traffic jam on the A10

As a spokesman for the ÖAMTC said, the column traveling south had already traveled more than ten kilometers around midday. And it could grow as the afternoon progresses. The delays for drivers were initially up to two hours.

Kilometers of traffic jams on Maundy Thursday

Already on Maundy Thursday, the traffic jam reached a length of 18 kilometers – according to the ÖAMTC yesterday, “by far the longest traffic jam in all of Austria” – and caused waiting times of up to three hours. Traffic in the north direction would run on Friday, but the automobile club expected extensive traffic jams here, especially on Monday, due to traffic returning to Easter. “However, this will still be less traffic than we expect at Pentecost.”

Due to the renovation of the tunnel chain at Pass Lueg, one lane of the A10 between Golling (Tennengau) andwerfen (Pongau) has been completely closed since September. The bottleneck leads to traffic jams, especially on busy travel days. Despite exit closures, the state roads in the Salzach Valley were once again affected by extensive evasive traffic on Friday.
