How companies score points in the competition for managers

If you want to fill a management position, you don’t just have to choose the best candidate. Candidates also look closely at which employer best meets their expectations. In order to meet these expectations with the best measures, the personnel service provider EO Executives, with locations in Linz and Vienna, has put together five measures that companies should pay attention to.

According to Christian Hener, founder and managing director of EO Executives Austria, companies must firstly dare to have more plurality in the recruitment process: companies must explore in all directions and use all channels. Digitalization enables worldwide searches. The HR team should also be diverse.

Working from any location via digital channels (remote work) is a defining trend, but it has disadvantages, especially in the interpersonal area. Managers must also be trained to meet these challenges.

The lack of interpersonal contact is one of the biggest problems in times of remote work: It is therefore important to maintain humanity. What is important in this context is a feedback culture, team building and space for small talk and friendly exchange.

Younger employees are looking for employers whose corporate vision aligns with their ideals: it is therefore important that companies raise their profile. This includes defining a vision and adapting it to future generations.

Today’s managers no longer want a rigid set of tasks. Companies must therefore become more flexible in their requirements for new managers. Anyone who doesn’t meet the requirements 100 percent must be given a chance. Companies must also be open to part-time managers.
