Official tire supplier Pirelli has announced the number of tires that each driver can use in the final of the 2022 F1 Round 16 Italian Grand Prix.
Pirelli has nominated C2 (hard), C3 (medium), C4 (soft) and intermediate hardness compounds for the Monza circuit, which will be the stage of the 16th round. It is compulsory to use two types of compound in the final.
The 53-lap Italian Grand Prix at Monza, the Hall of Fame of Speed, should be a one-stop race. If the weather is as forecast, the expected degradation level is expected to be relatively low, and the pitlane time loss is relatively long.
The theoretical best 1-stopper is to start with softs to maximize initial grip and swap to hards to provide consistent and competitive performance in the expected warm weather conditions. Another 1-stop consists of a longer first stint on medium, followed by a change to hard.
