The General Election COMMISSION (KPU) has begun recapitulating the vote count for the 2024 national election at the final stage by counting the votes from two provinces, namely Mountainous Papua and Papua. These two became the 37th and 38th provinces to be recapitulated on the last day, Wednesday (20/3).
The national level recapitulation plenary meeting for votes from Mountain Papua was chaired directly by the Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy’ari at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta. The meeting starts at 14.25 WIB. The recapitulation process is carried out through one panel. After Papua Mountains, the recapitulation continued with a recapitulation of votes from Papua.
Indonesian KPU member August Mellaz said that after the votes from Mountain Papua and Papua were recapitulated, his party would determine all the votes for the 2024 election, starting from the President-Vice President, Legislative and DPD elections.
His party is targeting the determination of the 2024 election results to be carried out after the Maghrib prayer prayer and fast breaking activities.
“We need time to review or examine the required documents. Later, the entire decree will be determined,” said Mellaz.
According to Mellaz, the group of Papua Mountains KPU commissioners arrived in Jakarta this morning at around 03.00 WIB. Meanwhile, the Papuan KPU group only arrived in Jakarta this afternoon.

The Indonesian KPU started the national level recapitulation stage last Wednesday (28/2). The first recapitulated votes came from Indonesian elections abroad. The recapitulation of votes from within the country itself was only carried out on Saturday (9/3) starting with DI Yogyakarta Province.
It is known that the KPU has a maximum of 35 days to determine the recapitulation of vote results since the voting as regulated in Article 413 of Law Number 7/2017 concerning Elections.
This means that for the 2024 elections, the deadline for the announcement and determination of the national recapitulation falls today.
