4,123 new confirmed cases today, including 234 imported cases

[on.cc Eastnet News]Zhang Zhujun, director of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, announced that there were 4,123 new confirmed cases in Hong Kong today (2nd), including 234 imported cases. Another 3 residential care homes for the elderly and 1 residential care home for the disabled reported new cases; 383 schools reported 549 cases today, and 14 schools had classes suspected of transmission and had to suspend classes for a week.

Of the imported cases, 142 were found at the airport, 79 were found in quarantine facilities, and 13 were found after quarantine. The cases came from 47 places, with more than 10 cases in 7 places, including 30 in India, 26 in the United Kingdom, 22 in the United States, 21 in the Philippines, 18 in Singapore, and 15 in Thailand and Malaysia.

As of yesterday (1st), in the samples received by the Public Health Laboratory Service of the Department of Health for verification testing for local cases in the past 7 days, Omicron variant virus strains BA.2.12.1 and BA.4/BA.5 substrains ( (including suspected cases) accounted for about 5.7% and 4.8% of the samples respectively.
