On November 5, 1978 A milestone in the history of regional football is remembered with the debut of Deportivo Roca in the highest category of national football. The team faced a challenging Independiente de Avellaneda, champion of the previous edition, in a memorable match that still lingers in the fans’ memories.
The match took place at the “Luis Maiolino” stadium. which hosted more than 9,000 spectators, generating an estimated collection that at that time exceeded 5 million pesos.
The Independiente team had several outstanding players from the world champion team.
The development of the game was balanced, although Independiente stood out for its effectiveness, ensuring the victory with two goals scored by the remembered forward Outesa prominent figure of the Avellaneda red team.
The match was led by Miguel Ángel Comensañto. Depo, under the technical direction of Rodolfo Santangeloformed with Carlos Gay, Rubén Bernardis, Alberto Saldico, Carlos Guaita and Ricardo Murillo; Norberto Gil, Héctor Tévez, Jorge Vigna and Miguel Batalla; Alfredo Di Giácomo and Luis Graneros. At the age of 30, Héctor Tappatá entered for Tévez.
