Artist Victoria Coeln makes the Parliament shine.

Vienna (PK) December 10, 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of the signing of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. On this occasion, Parliament is setting priorities that point to the importance of human rights for democracy.

So leaves the Austrian artist Victoria Coeln die Facade of the Parliament in the “Light of Human Rights” shine in light grids on selected days between November 8th, 2023 and January 28th, 2024.

According to the artist, the grids and rainbow colors represent diversity, freedom, dignity and rights for everyone. The lines of light represent the mental traces that we leave behind when we think, see and recognize.

“Light here not only represents the technical medium, but also the inner glow of people, which creates new connections and gives hope, courage and confidence,” explains the artist.

On the occasion of the anniversary, famous voices from politics and society will also have their say. Insights and outlooks on the current situation of human rights will be provided in Parliament itself, on the website and on the Social media channels of Parliament.
