The variable is an omicron mutant virus that has been spreading rapidly in recent years.

The government is preparing to reorganize the quarantine system, believing that the omicron mutation, which is known to have more than twice the transmission power than the delta mutation, is highly likely to become the dominant species in Korea.

In addition to the existing PCR test, the government has announced that it will utilize a rapid antigen test that can confirm infection within an hour, while promoting a plan to focus on groups with high risk of transmission through selection and concentration of epidemiological investigations.
