Nine people were killed in Peru on Monday during clashes between law enforcement and anti-government protesters trying to storm an airport in the city of Juliaca, according to the local ombudsman.

The demonstrators were calling for the departure of President Dina Boulwart.
“So far, there are nine dead in the morgue as a result of the clashes in Juliaca,” Nivardo Enriquez Barrales, coordinator of the city’s ombudsman’s office, told AFP.
