Between 90.3 and 91.9 percent of the citizens who participated in the referendum to repeal the mandate voted to keep the president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in office, informed Lorenzo Córdova, counselor of the INE, when presenting the preliminary data of the quick count.
According to the statistical exercise, between 6.4 and 7.8 percent of Mexicans voted for the mandate to be revoked due to loss of confidence. In addition, it is estimated that there is a maximum of 2.1 percent of invalid votes as a result of the consultation, Córdova detailed.
To give the first results of the quick count of the query, the INE received data from 1,753 boxes at 9:00 p.m. this Sunday.
During his message, the President stressed that these figures are not yet the final results and we will have to wait until Monday, April 11 to meet them.
With reference to the participation of citizens in the referendum to revoke the mandate, Córdova pointed out that a figure of between 17 and 18.2 percent of the population that went to the polls to cast their vote.
This Sunday, the INE installed a total of 57 thousand 517 boxes for the exercise of the revocation of mandate; however, some of them had to be closed due to “minor incidents”, informed the president counselor.
In the morning, President López Obrador went to exercise his vote in the citizen consultation in the booth installed in the Art Museum of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), accompanied by the writer and historian, Beatriz Gutiérrez Müller.
Some other public officials such as Claudia Sheinbaum and Mario Delgado also went to the polls.
