“It became impossible to sleep”

On Facebook, Jeanine had spotted an advertisement promising a quiet air conditioner that convinced her, and so she decided to call the Izo Cool store, located in Kortrijk. The brand’s representative had promised her a system not exceeding 26 decibels and not requiring an external unit, which had convinced the grandmother, all for 5,000 euros.

From an air conditioning point of view, Jeanine is completely satisfied, but it is about the noise that she feels she has suffered, as she explains to “Het Belang van Limburg”: “At a distance of one meter , we measure 48 decibels. Nearby, it rises to 68 decibels, and that’s when the machine is set to the lowest. Otherwise, it is not even possible to watch TV or talk on the phone. It even became impossible to sleep. »

Bad faith seller?

“Technicians came and found that the noise was indeed excessive. The seller agreed with us, but eventually revised his opinion and no longer gives an answer. For me, this is an admission of guilt. If they promise a silent air conditioner, it shouldn’t be recommended to turn it off at night because of the noise,” says the retiree.

Contacted by Flemish journalists, Izi Cool only responded by indicating that his technical department was working on the issue. Currently, Jeanine is still waiting for a resolution to her problem.
