Le Wagon strengthens in online data training with the acquisition of Emil

Le Wagon, a French start-up specializing in development training, takes over Emil and its data training offer. This acquisition, the financial details of which are not shared, was announced on June 29, 2022. La Wagon thus carried out its first external growth operation.

“The needs for data skills are exponential, and the acquisition of Emil allows us to strengthen our educational expertise and our offers in this area”, explains Romain Paillard, co-founder of Le Wagon. If this subject becomes important for many companies, there were 250,000 data scientists missing in the world to meet their needs in 2020, according to Le Wagon.

Retraining and upskilling

Le Wagon was founded in 2013 by Boris and Romain Paillard to help people wanting to retrain. It organizes bootcamps intended to train in an intensive and accelerated way the people who wish it with the cogs of the data-processing development. Today it trains more than 15,000 students in 45 campuses spread over all continents.

With this acquisition, Le Wagon wants to strengthen its offer and be able to support all professionals, throughout their career, by offering them Tech training tailored to their needs. Emil is a start-up founded in 2020 to offer an online data skills training school: all the courses offered are co-constructed and provided online by employees from French start-ups such as Doctolib, Payfit or Aircall). The objective behind is therefore to train professionals in post but who wish to strengthen their skills.

“Today, Le Wagon is a world leader in intensive WebDev and Data trainingassures Boris Paillard. Tomorrow, we will be essential for all those who want to start a career in Tech or who wish to improve their skills on these subjects.” Le Wagon intends to rely on Emil’s expertise to launch a Data Analyst bootcamp this summer. Then, in 2023, a bootcamp to train in No Code application developer professions will be launched.
