Xiaomi is about to release a new tablet with its Redmi brand. After the supposed Redmi Pad 2 was certified by the EEC with the model number 23073RPBFG and the code name “xun” a few days ago, a well-known leaker is now providing further details. While the certification body has not yet provided any specific details on the configuration of the presumed Redmi Pad 2, Kacper mentions Skrzypek Twitter some exciting details on the expected features of the new tablet from the Xiaomi brand.
#RedmiPad2:
– Snapdragon 680
– display 235,8 x 147,4 mm (~10,95″), LCD, 90 Hz, 1200 x 1920 px
– 8 Mpx main camera, 5 Mpx front camera
– Android 13– Kacper the Violinist????????? (@kacskrz) May 21, 2023
The device is said to be equipped with the Snapdragon 680. This would prove true that there is a change from MediaTek to Qualcomm. However, the Snapdragon SoC mentioned would be compared to the Helio G99 from the Redmi Pad (approx. 210 euros at Amazon) a downgrade in terms of performance.
The Redmi Pad 2 is said to be equipped with a 10.95-inch LCD panel that has a resolution of 1,200 x 1,920 pixels and updates at 90 Hz. This would mean a slightly larger diagonal than the 10.61-inch predecessor, while the resolution and refresh rate remain (almost) unchanged. As further specifications, the leaker for the Xiaomi tablet expected with Android 13 and MIUI 14 is a main camera with 8 megapixels and a selfie cam with 5 megapixel resolution. This would also be a devaluation compared to the 8 megapixels of the Redmi Pad, at least for the front camera in terms of pure resolution.
If the specifications of this leak are true, Xiaomi will slim down the equipment of the Redmi Pad for its successor, which would be quite an unusual development. We will find out at the latest when the product is launched whether this is reflected in the price and what else the Redmi Pad 2 will have to offer. This could take place in the third quarter of 2023.
Technology has fascinated me for around 25 years – especially when it makes life easier instead of more complicated. Mobile devices such as notebooks, smartphones, tablets and smartwatches are particularly close to my heart, as is the booming topic of smart home. I have been working in these areas for many years as an editor for tests and news. I was or am working for various websites, such as the smart home blogs from homee, Nuki and siio, as well as various tech portals such as Giga and Techradar. I’ve been writing news and laptop reviews for Notebookcheck since spring 2020.
