“The 39 Steps”, an attractive espionage thriller with a brave dose of comedy in the style of Monty Python, directed by Makis Papadimitriou, 10-11-12 May at the Pantheon theater in Patras
This adaptation by Patrick Barlow, based on the 1915 novel by John Buchan and the 1935 film by Alfred Hitchcock, offers audiences a thrilling comedic adventure. Richard Hannay, a man with a rather dull life, suddenly finds himself embroiled in a complex scheme of espionage, romance and deadly secrets.
With a multitude of different characters presented to the audience by a talented cast of four actors (Makis Papadimitriou, Grigoria Methenitis, Yiannis Latousakis, Panagiotis Gourzoulidis), the show offers a fast-paced, enjoyable theatrical experience and a combination of amazing performances and unparalleled stage creativity.

“The beauty of this play is not just in the fast-paced chase scenes or the fascinating web of characters and situations. It lies in the magic of the theater. This work challenges us to expand our imagination, to see a train in some trunks, or an escape scene over a bridge in the theater staircase. It’s a tribute to the days of more classic storytelling, where a few settings and the power of words can create an unforgettable vivid and highly comical picture.
In our performance, we aimed to enhance the feel of the game. Quick character changes, natural comedy and an unreserved love of theater are all central to our vision. We want the audience to not just watch a show, but to experience the joy of creation, to laugh at the “nonsense” and to admire the ingenuity.
