Agathe Guillemot, Léna Kandissounon, and Clara Liberman, known as “Team Krocket,” are making waves in French athletics.
The Genesis of Team Krocket
The team name emerged organically. Clara Liberman explains, “It starts from nothing. We are always saying anything, we laugh. It was after a competition, where the three of us had made very good perfs but each on our side. And in our group WhatsApp, Léna wrote a sentence that was close to those of the cartoon Pokémon With the Rocket team. These are a bit of the balls. And so we took that and we changed with the cat. It is not much, and that’s also what makes it funny. It is not reflected. There was no meeting (laughs)!”
Beyond social media amusement, these three athletes share a strong friendship, united since 2021 under coach Marc Reuzé at Haute-Bretagne Athletics.
A Team Within a Team
Léna Kandissounon, specializing in the 800m, was the first to join, followed by Agathe Guillemot, a 1,500m record holder, and Clara Liberman. They are part of a larger training group, fostering a sense of community. Reuzé stated in November, “I like not to isolate very high level athletes. I wont to keep them in a context where they always see where they come from. It makes you humble to be with others. it keeps your feet on the ground. This is important for the dynamics of a group.”
They train together, supporting each other thru various competitions and championships.
Guillemot shares, “Inevitably, the athlete occupies a large part of our discussions, but we are talking about everything. We are talking about our family lives, our friendship. We make cinés, puffs. We are roommates, friends, and training partners. I know their families very well. They are my best friends and I hope they think that of me too (laughs).”
“It feels good to be surrounded by people who understand us. We discover the high level simultaneously occurring. We really pull ourselves up. We really understood that we could move forward and shine every three at the same time ”
Liberman emphasizes their strong bond: “The three of us are united. I don’t have many friends, they are both part of my nearby circle. We have three duos because I have diffrent relationships with agathe and Léna. It’s super enriching. It’s very healthy. We communicate a lot. We know how to say things. This is how it works.”
Kandissounon adds, “We have three characters which are different and complementary. We have the same daily life. It feels good to be surrounded by people who understand us. We discover the high level at the same time. We really pull ourselves up. We really understood that we could move forward and shine every three at the same time. The three can be happy, perform, do what we like, without destroying others. We built successes together.”
Their mutual support is evident, with liberman helping her friends qualify for international championships and celebrating each other’s successes.
Looking Ahead
Coach Marc Reuzé hopes to dedicate himself fully to his athletes, aiming for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. He explains, “There, we managed to do incredible things like that. But now girls are professional. Here,we reach the limits. I juggle all my things and they wait for training all day. It is not logical.”
Guillemot concludes, “When you find yourself on competitions, it’s much simpler. One has the impression that it is daily life. You don’t wonder with whom you are going to hang out or sleep. It’s easy, it’s important. It is indeed less stress.”
Team Krocket’s unique blend of friendship, support, and talent positions them as a force to be reckoned with in the world of athletics. Keep an eye on these rising stars as they continue to achieve new heights. Follow their journey and support their athletic endeavors!
What strategies can coaches implement to foster a strong sense of team unity and camaraderie amongst individual athletes in sports like athletics?
Team Krocket: Inside France’s Rising Athletics Stars
An Exclusive Interview with Coach emmanuel Dubois
Team Krocket – Agathe Guillemot, Léna Kandissounon, and Clara Liberman – are rapidly gaining recognition in the French athletics scene. Their unique blend of talent, friendship, and unwavering support for one another sets them apart. to gain deeper insights into their success, Archyde’s Léa Moreau spoke with their coach, Emmanuel Dubois, a seasoned athletics expert known for developing young talent.
Léa Moreau, Archyde: Coach Dubois, thank you for taking the time to speak with us. Team Krocket’s trajectory has been extraordinary. What initially caught your attention about these three athletes?
Emmanuel Dubois: Thanks for having me, Léa. What struck me was their raw talent, of course, but even more so, their unbelievable synergy. Individually, they’re strong, but together, they create this powerful wave of positive energy that pushes them all to excel in middle-distance events like the 800m and 1500m.
Building a Winning Dynamic
Léa Moreau, Archyde: Their team name, “Krocket,” is quite unique. Can you tell us how their bond enhances their training and performance?
Emmanuel Dubois: (Laughs) The name is definitely them! It reflects their playful camaraderie. But their bond is far more than just fun and games. The trust they have in each other is unwavering.During grueling training sessions, they provide support, motivation, and honest feedback. This eliminates loneliness at the elite level and creates this feeling of sisterhood, making them a force to be reckoned with on the track.
Léa Moreau, Archyde: We understand that you emphasize a holistic approach to training rather than isolating athletes. How does that strategy contribute to Team Krocket’s success?
Emmanuel Dubois: Absolutely. Isolating athletes can create a pressure cooker habitat. Integrating them into a larger training group keeps them grounded and reminds them of their journey. This helps with humility and outlook, keeps their feet on the ground. Their relationship makes them more relaxed at competition, less stressed.
Eyeing the Future: Los Angeles 2028
Léa Moreau, Archyde: Their sights are set on the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.What specific training adjustments are you planning to help them achieve this enterprising goal in middle distance events?
Emmanuel Dubois: The transition to the professional level is critical. We’re focused on optimizing their training schedules, nutrition, and recovery protocols. We’re also working closely with sports psychologists to enhance their mental resilience.my personal goal is to secure the resources needed to fully dedicate myself to these women and others like them.
Léa moreau, Archyde: It’s clear that this holistic approach is critically important to you. What would be your main advice to coaches and athletes looking to replicate Team Krocket’s success in combining individual talent with team synergy?
Emmanuel Dubois: Cultivate a supportive environment, foster genuine connections between teammates, and prioritize open dialogue. Encourage them to celebrate each other’s victories and provide encouragement during setbacks. The athletic journey can be tough, but shared experiences make you stronger.
Léa Moreau, Archyde: Coach Dubois, thank you for sharing your insights with Archyde readers. We wish Team Krocket the best of luck in their future athletic endeavors.
Emmanuel Dubois: Thank you, Léa. It was a pleasure.
