Faced with too many positive cases in French schools, the government has decided to lighten the health protocol for children.

In Paris, Thursday January 6, the director of the Saint-Exupéry college is hunting down the Covid-19. And the unforeseen are numerous. “Her sister has the Covid, so she came and the CPE fired her”, explains Colette Chiche. Since the start of the school year on Monday, January 3, positive cases have multiplied, among students as well as teachers. With the new protocol, children with contact cases are sent home. Parents often have to reorganize themselves. “For those who work, it is very, very complicated. They should be able to find replacements”, considers a mother.

In four days, from kindergarten to high school, 9,202 classes had to close, and more than 47,000 students have tested positive for Covid-19, as have more than 5,000 school staff. In a family, tests are frequent. “I think we’re going to do that every week. There are some contacts almost every week, between sport, school…”, says Elodie Renier, parent of a student.
