Saturday evening around 8 p.m., Sophie V. had suffered a knife attack when someone had just rang the doorbell of her home. The woman was attacked almost immediately and the attacker then fled on a motorcycle. According to Het Nieuwsblad, the victim is known to have drowned his two children in Curaçao ten years ago.
At first, her ex-husband would have been suspected but his alibi would be concrete. Suspicions are now directed towards a man with whom Sophie would have had a brief relationship during her stay in psychiatry. “I can only confirm that a man was arrested on Wednesday,” said prosecutor’s spokeswoman Annelies Verstraete. “We do not yet communicate on his identity and his age. He was arrested after being questioned by the investigating judge.
