A new study reveals the name of a famous vitamin increases the risk of cancer by 91%

Al-Marsad Newspaper – Agencies: A study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that vitamin E (e) and the mineral selenium can increase the risk of cancer, according to the “Express” website.

Vitamin E helps maintain healthy skin and eyes as well as boosting immunity, while selenium provides powerful antioxidant properties.

However, the study, which looked at more than 35,000 men divided into four groups, found that supplemental forms of these two types are risky.

The study found that vitamin E increased the risk of low-grade and high-grade prostate cancer in men with low selenium levels by 63 and 46 percent, respectively.

Furthermore, selenium has been linked to a 91 percent increased risk of high-grade cancer in men with high levels of the same mineral.

The study concluded that men should avoid taking vitamin E and selenium supplements in doses greater than the recommended amount.

“Men using these supplements should stop,” said the study’s lead author. “Neither selenium nor vitamin E supplements offer any known benefits, only risks.”
