Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Activists on social media interacted with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, who is visiting Russia.

Activists on social media highlighted the word “thank you” that Putin said to Mohammed bin Zayed following the latter congratulated him on his birthday.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed had expressed his happiness to meet Putin, noting that he had not met Putin for nearly 3 years in light of the spread of the Corona virus around the world, adding that “despite the presence of Covid, we doubled the volume of trade exchange between us from 2.5 to 5 billion dollars, and the number of tourists The Russians rose to half a million, we celebrated the first Russian school this year, and we have 4,000 Russian companies.”

The UAE president continued, “All of this strengthens the bridge that we have built together. We believe that in the coming years we will double all these numbers. I am very happy to see you, my friend, Mr. President.”

For his part, the Russian President said that “over the 50 years of our diplomatic relations, our contacts have developed gradually and upwards. Despite the complexity of today’s relations in the world, relations between Russia and the UAE are an important factor for achieving stability in the region and in the whole world.

He added: “We are grateful to you for your mediation efforts, which led to the resolution of a number of rather sensitive humanitarian issues. I am aware of your concern regarding the development of the situation as a whole and your desire to contribute to the settlement of all contentious issues, including the crisis that is taking place today in Ukraine. I would like to note that this is indeed an important factor that makes it possible to use your influence in order to move towards a settlement of the situation.”
