The prosecution and the complaint are working against the clock in the investigation into the femicide of Otoño Uriarte. The deadlines are running out and that is why they obtained authorization to form a new police commission. A few days ago they incorporated two key data: a reserved testimony and a voluminous report from the expert Eduardo Purguer.
Almost in parallel with the investigation into the femicide of Agustina Fernández, the complaint in the case of Otoño Uriarte follows the same path. He managed to hire the expert Eduardo Prueguer who had a stellar performance in the investigations into the murder of the medical student. Last week the expert did the same with the teenager from Fernández Oro who disappeared and was murdered in 2007.
The sources revealed that submitted a comprehensive report prepared on the basis of the testimony of a person who spoke in reserve with the prosecutor Teresa Giuffrida and with the lawyer Gabriela Procopiew who assumed the representation of Otoño’s father, Roberto Uriarte.
With those pieces that are key to research today, Judge Laura González Vitale from Cipole gave the go-ahead to move forward. These days, a new police commission is already working on the ground to corroborate some of the information provided in that confidential statement.
17 years of impunity
The unpunished femicide that has already accumulated 17 years without resolution had several novelties in recent times and ended with the total renewal of the parties. With the procedural reform, the case passed to the orbit of judge González Vitale, then the attorney moved the investigation from Cipolletti to Roca and handed it over to prosecutor Giuffrida. In a controversial hearing, the plaintiff Marcelo Hertzriken Velasco abandoned his historic role, not without complaints in the middle, and the private accusation was left in the hands of the new lawyer Procopiew.
The only ones who remain tied to the causes from the beginning are the defendants and the occasional defender, specifically Gustavo Lucero, since many others even died.
Procopiew’s performance brought a breath of fresh air to the exhausted investigation. In addition to the request for an extension and the incorporation of a person as a “star” witness, he obtained the contribution of the expert Prueguer.
Previously, the judge had allowed them access to some kidnappings guarded in the safes of the case to apply the bluestar technique to clothing belonging to the young Otoño Uriarte, perform skills on a nylon, look for diatoms in some clothes and also return to compare the so-called hair 17 with two brothers of the defendant José Jafri. That hair has a genetic match of 13 out of 16 to Jafri’s samples.
The investigation into the disappearance of Otoño Uriarte, 16, began in 2006. LThe young man lived in Fernández Oro, I went to secondary school and played volleyball. The police, during those months, always searched for her alive and never considered the possibility of finding her on the scene that appeared to them in April 2007.
His body was in a state of decomposition, trapped in the locks of the El Treinta de Cipolletti canal. The cause of death was never determined.
The group of suspects is made up of Néstor Ricardo Cau, Germán Ángel Antilaf, José Hiram Jafri, Maximiliano Manuel Lagos, Federico Axel Saavedra and Juan Marcelo Calfiqueo.
