King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands begin a three-day state visit to Belgium on Tuesday. They will visit the three regions of the country, on the occasion of a program largely focused on the energy transition. A large part of the Dutch government, namely eight ministers, will also visit our country alongside the royal couple.

The program
Official ceremonies will open this visit, with an official reception on the Place des Palais in the morning, a wreath laying at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, a visit to Brussels City Hall and a banquet at the Château de Laeken. A visit to the Federal Parliament and a meeting between the Dutch sovereign and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo is also planned on the political level.
The themes of energy transition and climate change will be highlighted during the second day, Wednesday. This will involve a visit to the Climate Tech Forum in Brussels, in which more than 500 Belgian and Dutch companies and institutions participate. On Wednesday, the royal couple will travel to Wallonia, and more particularly to the Aerospacelab of Mont-Saint-Guibert, to the Queen Elisabeth musical chapel in Waterloo and to the Biopark in Charleroi. On Thursday, visits will continue in Flanders with the Imec research center in Leuven, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp (KMSKA) and the Port House of Antwerp.
Finally, the state visit will end on board the Belgian frigate Louise Marie and the Dutch frigate Zr.Ms. De Ruyters, to highlight the cooperation between the Belgian and Dutch navies. It has been 17 years since a Dutch sovereign came to our country for an official state visit. In 2016, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde traveled to the Netherlands for an official visit.
