Warning, spoilers for “Ginny & Georgia” follow.

On February 24, 2021, the ten-part first season of “Ginny & Georgia” started on Netflix and if you’re quick, you should be through by now – and ask yourself: How about season 2?

Because the first season ends quite openly. In a cliffhanger, Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and her little brother Austin (Diesel La Torraca) run away from their mother Georgia (Brianne Howey) and all the troubles in Wellsbury, while Private Investigator Cordova (Alex Mallari Jr.) uncovers another murder of the young mom the trick is coming.

Season 2: This is the current status

Netflix hasn’t officially ordered the second season of “Ginny & Georgia” yet – so you’ll have to be patient here.

However, series creator Sarah Lampert and showrunner Debra J. Fisher already know how to proceed, and are now eager to continue telling their story in Season 2. Because Season 1 was just the start of something much bigger:

“We started by gradually uncovering the facets of the characters so that we can really dive into them. Deb and I hope we get the chance to do that,” Lampert said Oprah Magazine.

Season 1: a “fun discovery tour”

The fact that the first season was supposed to end with a cliffhanger after the plot came to a head dramatically in the tenth episode, especially for Ginny, who lost all her friends in one fell swoop and also found out the terrible truth about her mother, was by the way from the beginning on planned. “Everything in the middle was just a fun exploration,” says Fisher.

So if the pretty intense themes that have been tackled in Ginny & Georgia so far have only been a voyage of discovery, we’re really excited to see what the creators have planned for season two.

In any case, the intimate but also fragile mother-daughter relationship between Ginny and Georgia, which has recently been put to the test, will again play an important role. “The relationship between Ginny and Georgia is the third main character in the series. It has a life of its own, is constantly changing and evolving,” says Lampert Oprah Magazine.

Is Ginny returning to Wellsbury?

But first, Ginny and Georgia need to find each other again in season two. The makers haven’t revealed anything yet, but we fully expect Ginny and Austin to return to Wellsbury over the course of the next season. Finally, the unresolved conflicts with her friends, Marcus (Felix Mallard) and Hunter (Mason Temple) are waiting for the 16-year-old there.

But in the Season 1 finale, Ginny proved that she’s more like her mother than she thinks she is – even if she doesn’t think she really knows Georgia at all. Fisher explains, “She does exactly what her mother does: always run away.”
