Israeli soldiers again allegedly attacked Gaza residents while they were waiting for help. At least 20 people were reported killed in the incident that occurred on Friday (15/3). A similar incident occurred a few days earlier, killing hundreds of people.

A journalist AFP at the scene saw several bodies and people who had been shot. The Israeli military denied firing shots at the crowd.

“Press reports that Israeli forces attacked dozens of Gazans at aid distribution points are false,” the Israeli military said in a brief statement.

The Health Ministry in Gaza accused Israeli forces of opening fire from tanks and helicopters as Palestinians gathered at a roundabout in Gaza City in the north.

Director of Emergency Services at a hospital in northern Gaza Mohammed Ghurab said there was live fire by occupation forces against people waiting for food trucks.

The humanitarian emergency has forced several countries to use air and sea routes for aid supplies due to limited land access to Gaza via Jordan, Israel and Egypt.

The Spanish aid ship Open Arms, carrying around 200 tonnes of food supplied by US NGO World Central Kitchen (WCK), was about 30 kilometers from Gaza, according to the MarineTraffic website, having left Cyprus three days earlier.

A humanitarian team in Gaza has built a floating dock where cargo destined for people in northern Gaza can be unloaded. WCK Chairman Erin Gore said they hoped to deliver around 300,000 meals as soon as possible. (AFP/M-3)
