An 82-year-old died of legionellosis in the Vienna General Hospital last week: The woman, who suffered from serious previous illnesses, was probably infected with legionella bacteria while showering in the hospital. There was recently a major outbreak of legionellosis, also known as legionnaires’ disease, in Poland: here too, the elderly were primarily affected.
