Social partnership has proven itself – conclusion in challenging times for both sides.

Vienna (OTS) “I am glad that massive staff cuts in trades and commerce can be avoided. The disproportionate increase in the number of apprentices in the first year of training is intended to be a signal to young people to start an apprenticeship in one of the diverse professions in the metal industry. Starting vocational training in the metal industry is a guarantee for a career and professional success,” explains head of negotiation Andreas Lahner.

The one agreed this year increase the actual wages is 8.2 percent from January 1, 2024the minimum wages will increase at the turn of the year 8.5 percent.

Die Apprentice income now amount to between 932 and 1,886.50 euros per month, depending on the year of training. In addition, as in the previous year, the apprentices in the first three years of their apprenticeship receive the Austria Climate Ticket, which covers all journeys on public transport throughout Austria. “This year, too, we want to send a signal that climate protection is an important concern for companies,” says employer negotiator Andreas Lahner, who is convinced that this sends an additional positive signal towards the upgrading of teaching, but also towards awareness of the issue climate protection.
