Kidnapped billionaire heiress is dead

Memphis – The billionaire heiress Eliza Fletcher (34) from Memphis (US state Tennessee) met her killer while jogging!

The teacher (married, two children) comes from a wealthy family, is the granddaughter of billionaire businessman Joseph Orgill III († 80, worked in tools, among other things). On Friday she went jogging just after 4 a.m. – and disappeared!

The police are sure that the convicted Cleotha Abston (38) forced the teacher into his SUV near the university campus, kidnapped – and murdered!

The evidence against him weighs heavily: surveillance cameras filmed how the offender attacked the teacher. The police also found the victim’s sandals with his DNA at the crime scene. Witnesses later saw Abston cleaning his SUV. He was arrested and is in custody.

The victim initially disappeared. The police searched for Eliza Flechter for three days with a large contingent, dogs and a helicopter. On Monday around 5 p.m., the officers made a grisly discovery near the kidnapping site and discovered a body. Today, Tuesday, police tweeted: “The deceased is Eliza Fletcher, 34.”

Investigators announced a first-degree murder and kidnapping investigation into Cleotha Abston.

The killer is a repeat offender: Abston was previously convicted of a kidnapping in 2001. At that time he had dragged the lawyer Kemper Durand into his car to withdraw money from his account with him. A security guard intervened in front of the machine. Abston fled but was caught and convicted a short time later.

“I was very fortunate to be able to escape from Cleotha Abston,” Durand testified. “It is very likely that I would have been killed if I had not escaped.”

Durand died in 2013, seven years before Abston was released in November 2020. He has remained unpunished for the last two years. Until now.
