On Monday, April 1st, in the renovated area of the Old Slaughterhouses of Aigio, a speech by the historian dr. Raimondos Albanou on the topic “Why is it worth learning History?” The 40s and the war of identities”. The event was co-organized by the Municipality of Aegialia – Deputy Mayor of Education and the Association of Philologists of Aegialia and Kalavryta.
The speaker referred to the events of the interwar period and the characteristics of the Greek reality that led to the Resistance and the Civil War. He approached the subject through the principles of Public History and analyzed the way in which the reception of History leads to the formation of socio-political identities in the present.
After the speech, a discussion followed, with the audience positioning themselves in relation to the presentation of Mr. Raimondos Albanos and asking successive questions.
The evening ended with a reception at the venue, during which attendees had the opportunity to chat with the speaker and exchange views.
