After an early dinner in the lobby of his hotel in New York, During the night, President Alberto Fernández reviewed the speech he will give this afternoon before the United Nations General Assembly.
This morning he was polishing the last details of his wordswhich as far as he could know Page 12 will include a reference to the attempted assassination of Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and the danger that far-right groups and hate speech represent for the world’s democracies.
As is customary in speeches by Argentine leaders at the UN, Fernández will renew the claim for the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands and will insist on the request for Iran to allow those accused of the AMIA attack to be tried.
Also, The president will call for an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine and it will once again claim for the decisions made in the central countries that have an impact on the south, something that it has already done in several international forums.
Bilateral meetings
Alberto Fernández held a meeting with the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, on Monday afternoon. They spoke about the war in Ukraine and its global consequences and addressed the issue of gas and the possibility of Argentine exports entering Europe through Portuguese ports.
This Tuesday the Argentine president is scheduled to meet with the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, and with the head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez.
