2024-01-02 13:22:29

As we can see, two zones are classified in “red” or alert phase: the Middle and Lower Semois as well as the Dendre.

Concerning the Semois, here is the content of the press release:

In view of the measured precipitation and weather forecasts, the flood alert thresholds should be reached during the days of Wednesday – Thursday. Caution is advised around rivers where rapid variations in flow and levels may be observed. The status of the situation will be updated regularly.”

Concerning the Dender:

In view of the measured precipitation and weather forecasts, the flood alert thresholds should be reached during the afternoon of Tuesday 02/01. Caution is advised around rivers where rapid variations in flow and levels may be observed. The status of the situation will be updated regularly.

The Dendre is therefore already in flood this afternoon.

The commune of Rebecq indicates that sandbags will be distributed to residents of areas at risk, given the very high level of the Senne and the precipitation still expected. 400 bags are already ready and contacts have been made with suppliers to obtain more.
