The consumer company Alicorp has just opened its most advanced logistics warehouse in Lima. From this new point, they plan to improve service levels and be more connected with their customers.
The new distribution center complies with world standards to be at the forefront of technology in logistics operations. It includes 2 ships (buildings) spread over 30,000 square meters. It is located in the south of Lima, more specifically the new LatAm Distribution Center from Alicorp It is part of the modern park of LatAm Logistic Properties in Lurin.
The adaptation of the space for Alicorp’s operations took around 18 months, since a customized pre-lease agreement was signed between both companies in 2021. It is worth mentioning that said agreement indicated 31,400 m2.
Its strategic location makes it a important cargo exchange point between the ports of Callao and Pisco.
Technological advances of the new distribution center
This new Alicorp logistics warehouse has the capacity to house 41,500 positions. Consider ESG aspects, which are the environmental, social and corporate governance factors that assess the sustainability of an investment. For example, in environmental terms, it has intelligent lighting equipment and forklifts with electrical equipment that have migrated from combustion to lithium batteries, contributing to a more sustainable operation.
It has 60 handling equipment, seven-level electric stackers and racks that have earthquake-resistant reinforcement. They also integrated radio frequency technology to control inventory and a state-of-the-art warehouse management system (EWM SAP) which marks how much space has been used and how much is available.
The distribution center requires the joint work of at least 200 people, according to Alicorp, including operators, administrators, analysts, managers and support teams. Stefan Stern, Corporate Vice President of Supply Chain at Alicorpcommented: “Grow to reach more people. That is what our recently inaugurated new warehouse in Lurín represents. Undoubtedly, a position with high standards to respond to the needs of the market”.
From the new logistics warehouse they will be able to distribute to all parts of Peru the dozens of consumer goods with which it counts the company. Alicorp offers products of all kinds such as oils, cereals, preserves, candies, cookies, sweets, dairy products, sauces, pasta, and even items for home care, personal care, and cleaning, among many others.
