Alpine F1 Fernando Alonso “Timely migration of resources to 2023 F1 cars”[F1-Gate .com]

Fernando Alonso warned the Alpine F1 Team not to compromise the 2023 F1 car by delaying the development of the 2022 F1 car until the second half of the season.

This year, the Alpine F1 Team is in a position to improve performance, challenge mid-feel rival McLaren and aim for the top four in the F1 Constructors’ ranking.

Both teams are lined up with 81 points for the F1 French Grand Prix, the home race of the Alpine F1 team, 30 points behind Alfa Romeo in 6th place.

Still, Fernando Alonso warns that the Alpine F1 Team can’t afford to extend the development of the A522 until the second half of the season. He argues that the team, unlike Mercedes F1, for example, has no way to run development programs in parallel.

“I don’t think it’s that easy for us,” said Fernando Alonso.

“We knew they (Mercedes) had a huge organization and would come back sooner or later. For us, if we try to improve as much as they do, it will be a medium- to long-term program.”

“So I think it’s important for us to start next year’s car right away so we don’t compromise on our next project.”

“Big teams can start next year’s car and at the same time continue to improve this year’s car, which is even more difficult for other teams.”

Development with the Alpine F1 Team will follow budget limits in the future, but Fernando Alonso still wants the team to be able to improve the behavior of the car in low-speed corners. This is a relatively weak part of the A522.

“I think we’re a little depressed in some corners,” said Fernando Alonso.

“At this point, I don’t think slow corners are our strength.”

“Baku had a lot of slow corners and some were very strong. AlphaTauri finished in 5th place and Aston Martin was also very strong, so on some tracks this kind of team could come back to life again. be:

“All we need is little by little. I don’t think there are any car weaknesses we have to solve, but there are areas to improve everywhere.”
