She grew up in an artistic family, as her father is a musician, which made her influenced from childhood by great musicians such as Nightingale, Umm Kulthum and Muhammad Abdel Wahab. She has many distinctive songs, participated in one cinematic work, and went through a painful marriage experience.
The singer Magda drew the attention of the famous Egyptian director Youssef Chahine, who chose her to participate in the movie “The Return of the Prodigal Son” despite her young age at the time, and a group of stars participated with her in the tournament, they are, Shukri Sarhan, Hisham Selim, and Suheir Al Morshedy, and the film achieved great success.
The artist, Magda El Roumi, married her husband, “Antoine Dafouni,” and the marriage resulted in the birth of two daughters, “Hala and Nour.”
And she added that she was insulted by her husband after she confronted him with his betrayal of her, as he beat her and expelled her in sleeping clothes from the house in the middle of the night, and she went to her family’s house without her clothes or money.
He blackmailed her to complete the divorce procedures, and Magda actually waived her rights in order for this marriage to end, announcing her retirement from love as she later sang.
