Marco Odermatt beaten in giant
In the lead after the first run, Odermatt had to admit defeat against Marco Schwarz on Saturday at the giant Palisades Tahoe.

Marco Odermatt is not invincible. World champion ten days ago in Courchevel / Méribel, the Nidwalden failed to win the giant Palisades Tahoe on Saturday in the United States. In the lead after the first run, the Olympic champion in the specialty had to settle for 2nd place, finishing 3 hundredths behind the Austrian Marco Schwarz. The Norwegian Rasmus Windingstad completes the podium (+0”36).
Despite a cannonball finish and a few errors on the top of the second course, “Odi” – author of the 3rd time in the heat – has nothing to be ashamed of this second place, his 14th consecutive podium in the discipline. Because Schwarz, who had signed the 5th fastest time, quite simply skied on a cloud. The Austrian skier thus confirms his bronze medal at the World Championships.
Good operation overall
Victorious at Soelden, Val d’Isère, Adelboden and the 2nd giant of Alta Badia, Odermatt obviously remains at the top of the classification of the specialty. His closest rival, the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen, 4th at 47 hundredths, is now 100 points behind the Swiss phenomenon. “Odi” also took advantage of Aleksander Kilde’s 24th place to increase his lead in the overall standings. With 386 units in advance, he is well on his way to retaining the big globe.
Regarding the other Swiss skiers, Gino Caviezel, 11th in the first round, managed to move up to 8th place (+ 1”49). Loïc Meillard, silver medalist at the Worlds, for his part fell from 9th to 11th place (+1”93). Justin Murisier (18th at 2”61) and Thomas Tumler (22nd at 2”94) also rank in points.
This Sunday, the athletes will compete in the slalom in the Californian resort. The first round is set at 7 p.m., the second at 10:15 p.m.
