At the invitation of the President of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, Charles Arbid, and as a continuation of previous meetings, and under the patronage and presence of Minister of Labor Mustafa Bayram, a meeting was held at the headquarters of the Council, in which the head of the economic bodies, Minister Mohamed Choucair, participated. Ziad Bakdash, and Jack Sarraf. Regarding the General Labor Union, its president, Bechara Al-Asmar, and Messrs.: Hassan Fakih, Saad Eddin Hamidi Saqr, and George Alam participated. On behalf of the council, along with Arbid, were Vice-President Hamidi Saqr, and General Manager Mohamed Seif El-Din.

The meeting reached, according to a statement issued by the Council, a consensual and participatory formula as a result of the flexible dialogue that the Council has always called for. After the session, Bayram and Arbid announced their details.

In the contents of the agreement:

The meeting agreed to increase the minimum wage registered with Social Security for the private sector, from 2 million pounds to 2.6 million.

Increasing the daily transportation allowance for workers and wage earners in the private sector from 65 thousand pounds to 95 thousand pounds.

The increase in wages is used up to a salary ceiling of five million Lebanese pounds.

This agreement will be endorsed by the Index Committee next Friday.

The attendees agreed that their dialogue should continue to address the permanent changes in the economic and living conditions that concern all production parties.
