An American tiktoker discovered Zote soap and we are already afraid that they will ‘gentrify’ it

The scenario that we had feared the most arrived… Zote soap is one of those products that does not even need to have advertisementsbecause in more than 50 years this pink (or white) soap has established itself as one of the most popular cleaning products when it comes to washing clothes.

Well, this soap is so important in our country that it is enough to remember how a few years ago several Mexicans got angry –and almost declared war– after it a lady from Honduras came out to say that Zote soap was for ‘washing dogs’.

A US tiktoker shared a new use for Zote soap

And it is that Zote soap is good, pretty and above all very cheap. In fact, these are the reasons why many people buy this product created by the ‘La Corona’ Soap Factory, around 1970, and which, in addition to leaving clothes clean, is very durable.

Although Zote soap has also become famous for supposedly helping to control sebum on the face and other uses that have not been fully proven, recently one came out that would help makeup and lead to soap being ‘gentrified’.

It turns out that on January 18 a well-known TikToker from the United States called Mikayla Noguerawho is dedicated to replicating and checking makeup hacks, posted a video where she tried Zote soap to clean her brushes.

The woman in question tried this product and found that it effectively removes makeup from brushes. Not only that, but put it as an economical alternative to special soaps for brushes Besides being small, they are not very cheap.

Here is the video in case you haven’t seen it:

Many were happy that the Zote was recognized beyond Mexico

“What is the problem?”, many will wonder. so what some people could not stand that the tiktoker pronounced the name of the soap as “Zout” instead of “Zote” and also, that they sell the bar for 5 dollars (about 94 Mexican pesos).

As you surely know, these bars of soap are not exactly expensive. In fact, the largest version (which is about 400 grams) is sold in supermarkets in a range of 22 to 27 pesos at most, so the woman in the video looked rich.

That too has caused the fear that gentrific Zote soapbecause surely many people already plan to get their soaps to wash their brushes and that will cause a shortage of this product or that it will rise a lot in price.

“Mikayla, if you run out of Zote soap our Hispanic mothers will be very angry”says one of the comments on the video. “Nooooo my laundry soap is going to run out”, says another person who exemplifies the fear that many feel after this video. We touch wood!
