Apple found a dangerous spy in the company

The documents of the claim, received in one of the American courts, were at the disposal of the media. According to the materials, Apple has filed a lawsuit against former engineer Andrew Oda, who has worked for the company on iOS since 2016. The specialist was suspected of disseminating secret information.

The company found confirmation that over 7 years of work, Od spied for journalist acquaintances from the American publications The Information and Wall Street Journal and sent them thousands of messages. In them, he talked about the new features of the iPhone, the Vision Pro headset, the Journal application and other company products.

It is unknown what motivated the ex-employee, but he sent more than 10 thousand messages to one of his contacts and “traveled across the entire continent” for a personal meeting with him. The security service revealed Oda in the fall of 2023; during a conversation with employees, the engineer deleted part of the correspondence with journalists and some stolen files. It is unknown what punishment Endoyu Od will receive if his guilt is proven in court.

Earlier it became known about a new method of stealing user accounts of Apple products. During this process, scammers send a large number of password reset messages to the owner of the brand’s devices.
