Apple iOS 16.1 Supports Deleting Built-in iPhone Wallet App

Foreign media reported on the 23rd (local time) that Apple is expected to allow the removal of the built-in iPhone Wallet app in iOS 16.1.

According to the report, iOS developer Steve Moser found this information following analyzing the iPadOS 16.1 beta code provided to the developer.

The code found tells iPhone users to download the Wallet app from the App Store to use the Apple Pay feature if the Wallet app is removed from the iPhone.

Currently, you can hide the Wallet app from your iPhone’s home screen, but you can’t completely remove it. The reason Apple allowed the deletion of the Wallet app is analyzed to be due to concerns regarding antitrust once morest Apple Pay.

In May, the European Union (EU) Commission launched an investigation accusing Apple Pay of violating antitrust regulations. He also filed a lawsuit over the fact that he had blocked the use of competitors’ services.

Apple is expected to release the full version of iOS 16 following the iPhone 14 series announcement next month.
