Apple launches eSIM in China with new iPad 10

There may have been a new iPad announced today, but a model that no one saw coming. At the same time as it announced its new USB-C Pencil in China – as elsewhere in the world – Apple launched for the first time in this country an eSIM compatible mobile device.

It is the iPad 10 which inaugurates cellular connection mode without a physical SIM card (it is still possible to use one, however). Until then, eSIM technology was absent from Apple devices sold in China, even on iPhones.

Only one operator is involved for this premiere, China Unicom, and orders for this revised iPad will open on October 19.

This iPad 10 appeared in October 2022, the fact that Apple has endeavored to modify this generation rather than waiting for the next one, suggests that we should not hope for an iPad 11 in the short term.
